100 Canadian Gold Coin

Categories: Silver Maple Leaf Coins | 2012 | by Coin Collector

100 Canadian Gold Coin - In1988 the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf was first minted. The makeup of the coin includes one troy ounce of 0.9999 silver and unexpectedly, the value of those coins is 5 Canadian Bucks, although it is not uncommon for the coins to exchange at a much higher value because of collector demand. Mintage has varied widely since that initial issue from over 1,000,000 to just one hundred,000 in 1997, simply contingent on orders. Back in 2008 the mint stated openly that over 0.5 of the silver maples were sent to Germany, that speaks to the coins victory as an investment vehicle for silver bullion, both within and out of doors of Canada.

The 100 Canadian Gold Coin come back in a selection of special issues, and included to the list are the following: a coloured maple, holograms, and special editions for the events of the winter Olympics, each past and therefore the 2010 events. Displayed on the obverse of the Silver Maples is the picture of Queen Elizabeth II, of which the mint has really designed 3 versions. The first image is of the Queen when she is at age 39, the next at age 64; and the last at 79 years. On the reverse facet, there is a image of the maple leaf, however as a result of of the coin's totally different variations, color enhancements and a privy mark that produces even this ordinary symbol of Canada very distinct.

The privy mark has conjointly been varied during a range ways in which to commemorate special events. Back in 1998 they put out a special version to mark the ninetieth anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mint. There has additionally been such contrasting subjects as a tiger, a rabbit, and even the Titanic. The twentieth year Anniversary of the Maple Leaf program (they started in gold) was marked in the year 1999. One amongst the simplest known numismatic celebrations of the new millennium was completed with a privy mark of fireworks and of course the year 2000.

The Charlton Commonplace Catalogue of Canadian Coins said that as compared to their Platinum and Gold counterparts, Silver Maple Leafs were not that widespread to most collectors, partly because of the very fact that in the year 1996 and 1997, their costs soared. The drastic increase in prices was practically precipitated by the limitation in the circulation of the coins, because most of it was left to be stored in Europe. Throughout the year 1998, the Royal Mint released a coin with ten ounces of 0.9999 fine silver to commemorate its tenth anniversary.

Thus you may notice I haven't gone into any detail on the Silver Krugerrand. There's a reason for that. The South African Mint has never released them. I grasp, you are thinking that you've got seen them for sale, maybe handled them yourself. They actually exist- but they are privately created and not a politician coin. Sound dubious? It does to collectors, and therefore the 2010 Customary Catalog of World Coins does not list them. They may contain the acceptable quantity of silver bullion, but you get Silver Krugerrands at your own peril.

Even though silver always ends up second to gold, the 100 Canadian Gold Coin surely have some surprising characteristics that may match up to the uniqueness of the Gold Maple Leafs.
